In case the student performs marketing and sales support tasks within the company, the exact nature of the tasks must be well-described (example: not "supporting the sales department", but "gathering customer information for the preparation of sales calls of the salesmen", or "giving recommendations for the improvement of the sales function of the company", etc.).
Apart from the assignment the student executes for the company, he/she should also do two minor assignments for school: writing a report on the general and the business culture in the country in which he/she does the business placement, and a report on the student's efforts to attain one or more personal objectives which he/she must formulate and discuss in advance with his/her school counsellor.
